Glycerol

Product Introduction

Glycerol (C₃H₈O₃, MW 92.09; CAS 56-81-5) is a colorless, odorless, sweet, viscous liquid, fully miscible with water and ethanol, soluble in some organics, stable except with strong oxidizers, melting point 17.9 °C, boiling point 290 °C, density 1.2613 g/cm³, highly hygroscopic.

Application Fields

• Cosmetics: humectant and emollient
• Food: humectant, sweetener, flavor enhancer, preservative in baked goods, dried fruits, meat
• Pharmaceutical: solvent, lubricant, laxative, nitroglycerin precursor
• Industrial: antifreeze, lubricant, plasticizer

Packaging Requirements

Moisture-proof, sealed stainless steel, plastic, or tin-plated drums; label with name, composition, production date, shelf life, and instructions. Bulk: 250 kg drums; small: 500 g, 1 kg.

Storage and Transportation

Store at ambient in cool, ventilated, dry area away from heat and fire; avoid oxidizers; inspect packaging; transport with PPE and spill equipment.
