β-Carotene (C₄₀H₅₆) is an orange-yellow fat-soluble carotenoid and vitamin A precursor.

Characteristics:
• Appearance: orange-yellow crystalline powder
• Solubility: insoluble in water; soluble in fats and organic solvents
• Sensitivity: degrades under light, heat, oxygen
• Melting Point: 178–179 °C
